A little something I started writing.

I would love to get some feedback on this.

    Thanks

By most accounts, Joe would be considered a lucky man. He had a wife who said she loved him, a nice house in a small, quiet town, and a decent job. But, Joe felt alone. He had no friends to talk to, and he never felt like he could talk to his wife; she tended to use what he told her against him. No, Joe was very much alone in this world, however, in the world he had created for himself, he was loved by all, and was never lonely.

But all in all, he considered himself a normal married man, trapped in a marriage that he just couldn’t escape, and wasting his life away in an unfulfilling job. To some, he was considered lazy, for at times, he would just sit and stare off into space and not really get much work done. But he knew better, he was not lazy, he was just not interested in life anymore. He felt that his life had nothing more to offer him. After all, he had everything that most people wanted out of life, and he still felt empty inside. On many occasions, he had even considered ending his life, but he could never seem to work himself up to it. So, he would just go on dreaming about how life could have been, hoping for the day his life would change. Little did he know that today was that day.

The morning started off as usual, he got up before everyone else to get ready for work. He took a shower and got dressed in his usual work garb, a pair of jeans, a t-shirt with a sweatshirt over that and his work boots. Then he went out and had his usual coffee and toast.

But this morning was different. As he sat sipping at the hot black coffee, he heard something. It sounded like a distant woman’s voice. He quickly dismissed it as a neighbor or his imagination, and finished with his breakfast. While he was picking up, he heard it again, it seemed like a barely audible whisper, just on the edge of his hearing. It seemed somehow familiar, like he knew that voice from somewhere, and for just a brief moment, he thought he heard it call out, “Help!”

Oh great,” he thought, “now I’m hearing voices.”

But he just laughed it off with a nervous chuckle and finished picking up and headed out the door. He got in his car and headed off. He was quickly stuck in traffic, and he started to daydream once more. He started thinking about the same place he always did. It didn’t have a name, but it didn’t need one. It was a beautiful land full of trees and mountains and all manner of creature imaginable. This is where he would always dream himself. He would always be a knight or great magician, sometimes both. This was the place that he knew that he belonged, and longed with all of his being that he could go to. It was here, in a castle by an endless sea, that she lived. He did not know her name, but he loved her, with his entire soul he knew that he was meant to be with her and not stuck on this world feeling his life slipping by him. She was the woman of his dreams. He had rescued her countless times, and fallen in love with her over and over again, she was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She was short, coming up only just above his shoulder; her hair was a long cascade of perfumed brunette silk, falling almost to her waist, her eyes were deep blue pools that haunted his dreams and left him lying awake at night thinking of nothing else.

He pulled into the parking lot, not even remembering how he got there. He had been dreaming of a pair of eyes the whole way there. He hurried into a parking place and turned off the car, and just before he was going to get out of the car, he heard the voice again.

Can you hear me?” the woman’s voice called. “Hello?”

Yes, I can hear you.” Joe thought cautiously at the voice.

Oh thank the Gods I reached you. We need your help.”

    What Mythological Creature are you?

Monday, October 1, 2007, 09:12 AM CST [General]

You scored as Faerie, Faerie: Aren't you a cute

little flying person? Faeries are earth spirits.

They live among each element completely

hidden. They have cousins called Pixies.

Pixies however, are very mischevious. They

enjoy tormenting other creatures for fun. Little

pranksters. I hope you never meet one. Pixies

have a bad reputation for finding a creature

and clinging to them until death. Faeries can

be somewhat close to a Pixie, but mostly they

are loving, playful, and carry with them a

child-like enthusiasm for life. Hide among

the pedals of a Daisy, you are a Faerie.

    You fit in with:
    Spiritualism

    100% spiritual.
    40% reason-oriented.

Your ideals are mostly spiritual, but in an individualistic way.  While spirituality is very important in your life, organized religion itself may not be for you.  It is best for you to seek these things on your own terms.

What kind of Pagan are you?

Monday, September 24, 2007, 02:08 PM CST [General]

You scored as Ecclectic Pagan, A veritable blend of all the

pantheons and perhaps a dash of a few other religions as

well, you're the versitile Ecclectic Pagan. You have no

problem wearing an ankh while setting an offering to Herne

on your alter just below your image of Hera. You don't

believe in coloring within the lines, and are a bright

free-thinker. While you respect the views of your fellow

pagans, as far as you're concerned, religion is the sky, and

there's no one about to clip your wings with lines and

    limitations.
